Why Qatar's project economy runs on FIDIC

Qatar's project pipeline sits on a short list of large owners, each of whom procures through FIDIC-based contracts. QatarEnergy and its subsidiaries use the Silver Book extensively for EPC and turnkey LNG delivery. Ashghal's public infrastructure programme — Doha Metro extensions, Lusail, road upgrades — relies primarily on the Red Book. Process and MEP packages across both sectors frequently use the Yellow Book where Contractor design responsibility is appropriate.

For planners, QS, contracts engineers and PMs working on these projects, sustained fluency across all four Rainbow Suite Books is a hiring baseline, not a nice-to-have. This course covers the full set.

What this course covers — the Qatari lens

The full GSTPM FIDIC Contract Management course curriculum, delivered with Qatar-relevant case studies:

  • FIDIC Red Book — the dominant form on Ashghal public infrastructure (deep-dive)
  • FIDIC Yellow Book — design-and-build for MEP and process packages (deep-dive)
  • FIDIC Silver Book — EPC turnkey, standard on QatarEnergy LNG and refining programmes (deep-dive)
  • FIDIC Green Book — short-form contract for smaller or straightforward works (deep-dive)
  • FIDIC claims workflow — notices under Sub-Clause 20.1 (1999) and 20.2 (2017), particulars, Engineer determinations (deep-dive)
  • Extension of Time — the pathway from delay event to Engineer determination (deep-dive)
  • Delay analysis methods — TIA, Windows Analysis, As-Planned vs As-Built, Collapsed As-Built (deep-dive)
  • Variations and change management — valuation under measured, dayworks and quotation basis
  • FIDIC × Primavera P6 — the integration module (deep-dive)

The differentiator for Qatar planners

Most FIDIC training in the region treats the contract as a legal subject — reading clauses, quoting sub-clauses, showing no schedules and no field data. That leaves planners and QS unable to actually operate the contract when a delay hits.

This course is the opposite. Every clause we teach lands in a Primavera P6 workflow: what to record, when to notify, how the baseline supports the claim, and what the Engineer will accept as evidence. For a Qatar-based planner moving from execution into claims-defensible scheduling, this is the single highest-value upgrade available.

Where our Qatar participants come from

Working professionals from these employers — and from the broader QatarEnergy supply chain — have joined our FIDIC and Primavera cohorts since 1999:

  • QatarEnergy and legacy RasGas assets
  • Qatargas & the Ras Laffan corridor contractors
  • Ashghal (Public Works Authority) and consultants on Qatari public infrastructure
  • Qatar Rail / Doha Metro extensions
  • McDermott Middle East, Tecnicas Reunidas, Bechtel, Fluor and other major EPC contractors on Qatari programmes
  • Mesaieed and Al Khor industrial estates

Delivery format

  • Online-live cohort — Sunday to Thursday evenings 7–10 PM AST, or weekend intensives Friday + Saturday 9 AM–3 PM AST
  • Corporate on-site — private cohort for teams of 8+ at your Doha or Ras Laffan office, with case studies adapted to your live projects (under NDA)
  • Recordings — every session recorded and shared within 24 hours; access continues for the cohort duration plus 60 days
  • Alumni channel — private WhatsApp cohort channel that remains active after the course ends

Trainer

Every cohort is led personally by Gyanendra Singh — PgMP®-certified with 25+ years of EPC and infrastructure delivery experience across the Gulf, South Asia and Southeast Asia. He has served EOT notices, built the Primavera evidence packs that supported them, and stood behind those numbers in Engineer determinations.

FAQ

No. GSTPM is headquartered in India. FIDIC training for Qatar is delivered online-live in AST-friendly time slots, with corporate on-site delivery available at your Doha, Ras Laffan or Al Khor office for teams of 8+.
The Red Book is common on Ashghal and public infrastructure. The Yellow Book is common on process-plant and MEP-heavy delivery. The Silver Book dominates EPC and turnkey LNG programmes under QatarEnergy. The Green Book occasionally appears on smaller or straightforward works. We cover all four with Qatar-relevant case studies.
No. FIDIC runs its own accredited trainer programme; this course is not that programme. The certificate you receive is issued by GS Technologies. What this course gives you is practical fluency — the ability to actually operate FIDIC contracts on Qatari projects, tied to Primavera P6 and delay-analysis discipline.
Primary reference is the FIDIC 2017 second edition of the Rainbow Suite (Red, Yellow, Silver Books). We cross-reference the 1999 first edition throughout, because a large share of ongoing Qatari projects were signed under 1999 wording.
Live sessions typically run Sun–Thu evenings 7–10 PM AST, or Fri–Sat weekend intensives 9 AM–3 PM. Every session is recorded; participants keep access for the cohort duration plus 60 days.
Yes. Private corporate cohorts for teams of 8+ run on-site at your Doha, Ras Laffan or Al Khor office. Case studies can be adapted to your live projects under NDA. WhatsApp us to scope it.
